I SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM( aka, summer please come)

This is a piece I did for school. I've been attempting to explore with inks and water colours and I think I like where its going...playing around with new mediums forces you to break out of your comfort zone, which is a good thing!

playful plans

Here's a little drawing I recently did. I rarely use graphite or watercolours anymore, so it was fun playing around and "letting loose"! She reminds me of the spring time...I can't believe I'm already fantasizing about warm weather and soft breezes!

leave it all behind

Here are a few new pieces I did for a group show I am currently in a moonbean cafe in Kensington. Though they are small and pretty simple I'm quite happy with them. I've always been intrigued by the natural world and our connection to it. Recently I've been exploring the idea of transforming and how we as humans are constantly evolving, falling apart and becoming something new. I think these pieces are begging to be embroidered!

OMFG ART: Kelsey Brookes!

Kelsey Brookes is an incredible artist that I stumbled upon on Fecal Face. His work is technically impressive, for an artist who only 6 years ago called himself a microbiologist. A year long surfing trip to Australia turned Kelsey onto the idea of making art and by 2005 he left the science industry to pursue a full time career as an artist. Kelsey's work is bitterly sweet and reminds me of what candy land might look like on acid. His ability to juxtapose seemingly innocent element with erotic or even perverted undertones undeniably attractive. Kelsey's work is influenced by Hindu and Buddhist deities, the discovery channel, erotica and quilt (what a mash up!). His beautiful paintings inspire me to work bigger and to never sleep!

cactus kitty

So I've been majorly slacking as a "blogger" lately, but don't be offended because LAZY is my new middle name! It's unbelievable how much I rely on school to keep me productive! In the past few weeks I've spent an embarrassing amount of hours curled up in bed wasting my life away on the interweb (guess what I'm doing right now!?) I actually haven't picked up a pen/pencil/crayon ANYTHING in way to long. This week I'm going to get back in the swing of things and I'm starting with this little gem!
