Sweet Somethings

Here's another piece for my thesis that deals with the parallels between talking to your plants and dirty talk. Many gardeners believe that talking to your plants stimulates growth and keeps the plant healthy. My piece shows a character whispering into a flower while the flower responds with excitement.

This piece is done in embroidery floss and wool on hand dyed fabric. It deals with the concept of mating rituals and attracting a pattern through colourful attire.

This past weekend I took part in a local art fair called Zine Dream! It was lots of fun, despite the lack of sleep I was running on. Late Bloomers is the new zine I made for Zine Dream. It depicts Victorianesque children in the early years of adolescence which are often awkward and isolating. They represent the years in which you are attempting to discover yourself and the constant conflict you experience. Those silver lid things are magnets I made for the show and I also included a picture of my studio wall which Ive begun using as a inspiration bulletin board! That's all for now I think....

OH expect for the fact that thesis is less then a week away!!!! AHHH OMG WOWW ok crunch time!

I'm going to be apart of an awesome zine fair at the end of the month called Zine Dream. If you're in the Toronto area on August 29th, come visit me and a group of over 50 talented Toronto artists at the Tranzac! Below are a few pieces I've been working on for a zine I'm putting together for the fair. These photos are from an installation I did in the Music Gardens near the Harbour Front. It was part of a piece I did for a show at Gallery 1313 called Today is Yesterday's Tomorrow involving nostalgia and childhood memories. I'll post more photos from the show asap!
