the odd truth behind fairy tales...

A charcoal piece based on the original tale of sleeping beauty. In the original, sleeping beauty is impregenated by the prince while she is unconcious. She ends up giving birth to a set of twins as she lays there in a coma. The old tale was raw and a tad gruesome. Its safe to say she woke up pretty confused.

Eeewwww, no wonder they had to revise the old fairy tale for the newer version. Poor children must of had serious nightmares. The charcoal is very interesting!!!

I heard that, in the original, that it was a prophecy that made her fall asleep and then the king (her father) raped her, and when she had the twins, one of them sucked some flaxen thing off her finger and it made her wake up.
